Testing the GPD Duo gaming performance with AMD Ryzen 9 AI HX370

For our GPD Duo gaming performance video and article, we tested a variety of games on the pre-production GPD Duo laptop to see how they perform at the default 28W TDP with SmartShift set to 60000. We observed a notable improvement over the previous generation AMD Ryzen 7 8840U CPU, emerging as a highly promising processor for gaming.

The GPD Duo is a high-performance dual-screen laptop tailored for gamers, professionals, and multitaskers who need powerful hardware in a portable package. Featuring the AMD Ryzen 9 AI HX370 processor and 890M GPU, it offers excellent computing and graphics capabilities, making it perfect for gaming, content creation, and productivity tasks.

Elden Ring

We set the resolution to 1200P with Medium graphics settings, disabled motion blur, and enabled V-Sync to 60 FPS. There were minor dips below 60 FPS, but gameplay remained smooth. For a solid 60+ FPS, 800P resolution with higher graphics settings is an option.

Tekken 8

With a resolution of 1200P and Medium graphics settings, enabling AMD FSR 2 to Balanced allowed us to enjoy 60+ FPS on the GPD Duo laptop during gameplay.

Palworld

We chose 1200P resolution, limited to 30 FPS, with default Medium graphics settings. Lowering the resolution or graphics could achieve 60 FPS, but the game plays well at 30 FPS given its slower pace.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

This game proved to be more demanding than expected on the GPD Duo. We opted for 1080P resolution, capped at 30 FPS, and used the default High graphics settings.

Dead Cells

As a less demanding game, Dead Cells ran smoothly at the maximum resolution of 2880×1800. We recommend lowering the TDP to save battery life.

No Man’s Sky

At 1200P resolution with standard graphics settings and FSR 2 Balanced enabled, there were occasional dips below 60 FPS. Reducing the resolution could improve performance further, while allowing for higher graphics settings.

TMNT Shredder’s Revenge

This game ran flawlessly at 2880×1800 resolution. You can lower the TDP to extend battery life.

Cyberpunk 2077

We opted for 1080P resolution on default High graphics settings, paired with FSR 2.1 Balanced and V-Sync at 30 FPS. Although you could reduce the resolution for 60 FPS, the game looks significantly better at 1080P.

Double Dragon Gaiden

This game runs excellently at 2880×1800 resolution on the GPD Duo. As with other lower-demanding games, lowering the TDP can help conserve battery life.

Forza Horizon 5

We selected 1080P resolution with default High graphics settings and no FSR enabled. If desired, you could enable FSR to push for a higher resolution.
