  • My game is still running slow with the GPD G1 connected?

If your games are running slower than expected, several factors could be contributing to the problem. Here are some steps to help troubleshoot and improve performance:

Ensure the Game Is Using the Correct GPU - Make sure the game is utilizing the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT eGPU instead of the device’s internal graphics, like the AMD Radeon 780M. Check the game’s video or display settings for an option to select the GPU. This setting may be labeled as "GPU" or "Monitor."

Adjust Game Video Settings - High video settings can cause performance issues. Many games have recommended settings that optimize graphics based on your hardware. If you're still facing performance problems, try lowering the screen resolution to 1440P, 1080P, or even 720P. Another option is to start with lower default graphics settings and gradually increase them until performance starts to drop. Once it does, revert to the last stable setting.

Internal Display Considerations - Using the handheld’s internal display can reduce the efficiency of the eGPU. This happens because data needs to travel between the handheld and the GPD G1, consuming twice the bandwidth through the USB 4 cable. For improved performance, consider using an external display, which requires less bandwidth and allows the eGPU to operate more efficiently.
