Introducing the GPD WIN Max 3: Modular OLED Handheld Gaming Laptop
The GPD WIN Max 3 brings the WIN Max concept into a new generation, pairing AMD Ryzen™ AI Max+ performance with a high-refresh AMOLED display, modular expansion and a compact laptop-style handheld design. Built for gaming, productivity and desktop-class flexibility on the move, it combines a physical keyboard, game controls, extensive I/O and external module support in one portable Windows gaming PC.
AMD Ryzen™ AI Max+ Performance
At the heart of the GPD WIN Max 3 are AMD Ryzen™ AI Max+ processor options, including the Ryzen™ AI Max+ 395 and Ryzen™ AI Max+ 388. GPD lists boost clocks up to 5.1GHz / 5.0GHz and a configurable 45W–110W TDP, giving the device the performance headroom needed for demanding PC games, multitasking and creative workloads.
Graphics are powered by the AMD Radeon 8060S integrated GPU based on RDNA 3.5, with 40 compute units, 2560 shader units, a 2.9GHz GPU clock and 32MB MALL cache. This gives the WIN Max 3 a strong foundation for modern handheld PC gaming and GPU-accelerated applications.
9.6″ 165Hz AMOLED Display
The display is one of the standout upgrades. GPD lists a 9.6-inch AMOLED panel with a 2400 × 1504 resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, HDR10 support and selectable refresh modes including 165Hz, 144Hz, 120Hz and 60Hz.
The panel is specified with 10-bit colour, 1.07 billion colours, 105% DCI-P3, 150.72% sRGB, 313 PPI, ΔE < 1 colour accuracy and up to 1050 nits HBM peak brightness. With AMOLED self-emissive contrast and true black levels, the WIN Max 3 is designed for vivid gaming, media and desktop use.
Memory, Storage and Expansion
The GPD WIN Max 3 is listed with 32GB, 64GB and 128GB LPDDR5x 8000 MT/s quad-channel memory options. Storage support includes M.2 2280, M.2 2230 and Mini SSD 1517, with listed storage capacities from 512GB to 4TB depending on configuration.
For connectivity and expansion, the WIN Max 3 includes USB4 with DisplayPort 2.1, 40Gbps data and 100W PD fast charging, plus HDMI 2.1 FRL, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, dual USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and Mini SSD expansion. GPD also lists support for the GPD G2 graphics dock through USB4.
Modular Battery and Cooling Design
The WIN Max 3 uses an external modular approach for power and cooling. GPD lists a 97Wh external swappable battery module and an optional 110W fan module, allowing the device to be configured for longer sessions, lighter handling or higher sustained performance depending on use.
Charging support includes a 180W DC adapter for full-power operation and 100W PD 3.0 fast charging through USB4 for lighter travel and everyday use.
Controls, Keyboard and Everyday Usability
Designed as a handheld gaming laptop, the GPD WIN Max 3 combines integrated game controls with a keyboard, touchpad and productivity-focused I/O. GPD lists capacitive joysticks, 4096-level linear Hall triggers, a right joystick mouse-emulation mode, a fingerprint power button, wide-angle camera, microphone and AAC stereo speakers with DTS:X Ultra virtual surround support.
