GPD WIN 5 FAQ

We are expecting it to launch around November 25th. A more accurate date will be provided as we get closer to the estimated date.

You get a two year warranty when buying from GPD Store, other sellers may only provide one year. 

The GPD WIN 5 has the choice of two processors with their respective GPUs:

• AMD Ryzen AI MAX + 395 with AMD Ryzen 8060S
• AMD Ryzen AI MAX 385 with AMD Ryzen 8050S

The GPD WIN 5 measures around 10.5 x 4.3 x 0.95 inches (26.7 x 11.1 x 2.4 cm) and weighs approximately 565g (1.24 lbs).

In addition, the external battery pack measures around 4.36 x 4.34 x 0.71 inches (11.07 x 11.03 x 1.81 cm) and weighs about 350g (0.77 lbs), making this a very versatile portable gaming PC.

The GPD WIN 5 has a 80Wh external battery which can be easily swapped with additional batteries.. Battery life will vary depending on usage .

The performance different between the AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 and Ryzen 9 AI HX 370 is very large. Depending on the benchmark you can see as high as a 189% increase in performance. See our benchmarks in our GPD WIN 5 review here. 

The GPD WIN 5’s AMD Ryzen AI MAX 395+ with AMD Radeon 8060S provides excellent performance roughly equivalent to the Nvidia 4060. In many recent games you can expect to play AAA titles at 1080P on or above High settings in most cases. For example on DOOM Dark Ages, it can be set to 1080P on the default Nightmare graphics settings for 120 frames per second.

The GPD WIN 5 is exceptional for emulation! You will be able to run up to the more recent console (PlayStation 4) and handheld emulators (i.e. Eden) with impressive performance. Please note that the actual emulators compatibility may not fully support all games and performance can vary in these instances.

The GPD WIN 5 comes with a 180W power supply with a 5.2×2.5mm barrel jack to connect to the device. Input:‌ 100–240V AC, 50Hz/60Hz; Output:‌ 180W (20V==9A Continuous)

You can also use a USB-C charger to power the device or charge the external battery.

You do not need the external battery to be connected in order to power the GPD WIN 5. You can use the included power supply to power it.

It is not possible for the RAM to be upgraded as it is soldered to the board. It is possible to upgrade the storage to 4TB and theoriticaly higher capacaties once available. The storage is M.2 2280 SSD format. You also have the Mini SSD slot which supports up to 2TB SSD for additional storage.

The GPD WIN 5’s 7″ display supports up to 1920×1080 and a refresh rate up to 120Hz. When connected to an external display via the GPD WIN 5 Smart Dock, it can output up to 4K 144Hz via the HDMI 2.1 port.

You can connect to three external monitors such as the DroiX PM14 via the HDMI 2.1 and two USB-C ports.

The GPD WIN 5 features a Dual-Fan and Quad-Heat-Pipe Configuration that in our tests works very well. In our fan noise and temperature tests, a highest fan noise of 67 dB was recorded. The highest temperature reached was 48°C without the battery, and not much difference was noted with the battery attached

The GPD WIN 5 is equipped with dual 2W super linear speakers. Both the headphones and built-in speakers support DTS: X Ultra audio technology, simulating physical 7.1-channel surround sound

For Wireless communication there is WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 built-in as standard.

The GPD WIN 5’s 8060S GPU is roughly equivalent to an Nvidia 4060 in terms of performance, so an eGPU is not required. However, you can connect an eGPU via the USB 4 port.

The GPD WIN 5 supports a capacative stylus . An Active stylus such as the GPD Stylus will not work on the Win 5 

The GPD WIN 5 supports Windows Hello via the fingerprint scanner found on the power button. 

The XDNA2 NPU, with high token generation (61 TPS) and fast time-to-first-token for local LLMs, reaching 126 TOPS system-wide in optimized cases.

The GPD WIN 5 runs the Windows 11 Home OS.

The GPD WIN 5’s shell is made from ‌LG-DOW 121H Impact-Resistant Aviation ABS Synthetic Resin, UL94 V-0 Fire-Retardant Grade
