Why we verify your purchase

Transparency at GPDSTORE: How We Safeguard Your Order (and Your Privacy)

Addressing the Big Question: “Why is ID verification necessary?”

We hear you. You’ve just picked out your next piece of tech, you’re counting down the days until it arrives, and then unexpectedly, an email lands in your inbox asking for a scan of your passport or license. It feels overreaching and adds a layer of friction to your day. We want to be entirely open about the reasoning behind this step.

In recent times, the digital shopping landscape has faced a surge in complex fraudulent activity. Bad actors frequently use compromised credit card info to snag expensive hardware. Previously, to shield both the true cardholders and our own operations, we had to flatly reject any transaction that appeared even slightly irregular or decline helpful requests, like sending a gift to an address that didn’t match the billing details.

How We Safeguard Your Order
Why we verify payments

We eventually realized that this “cancel first” strategy was unfairly penalizing our honest shoppers. We searched for a way to clear your orders for shipment reliably and safely, rather than simply turning them away.

Our Answer: Safe Authentication through Stripe Identity

To strike a balance between a smooth experience and robust protection, we have teamed up with Stripe, a global leader in financial technology, to manage our identity verification. This is the most critical detail to remember:

GPDSTORE never views, manages, or archives your identification documents on our own systems. Ever.

We have intentionally implemented this “hands-off” framework to ensure your most private information remains protected and fully aligned with international data privacy standards.

The Journey of Your Information (and Its Deletion Schedule)

When a transaction is flagged for a quick review, here is exactly what happens to your data:

  • The Trigger: Our internal security system identifies an order for review. We then provide you with a unique, encrypted link created by Stripe.
  • The Hand-Off: Clicking that link takes you directly into Stripe’s protected ecosystem. You upload your credentials straight to Stripe’s bank-grade, encrypted vaults. This data completely bypasses GPDSTORE hardware.
  • The Verdict: Stripe’s automated algorithms evaluate the document and send GPDSTORE a basic “Pass” or “Fail” notification.
  • The Unlock: Upon a “Pass” result, your order is cleared and moved into the next available shipping slot.
  • The Automatic Deletion: Stripe permanently wipes your ID images and associated data from their infrastructure after 30 days.

Why is there a 30-day window?

We maintain this brief period specifically to resolve any potential fraudulent chargebacks that might occur later. It provides Stripe with the evidence needed to show the bank that the buyer was legitimately verified. Once that month passes, the data is scrubbed.

Your Privacy Rights and Available Choices

Should a verification attempt fail, our dedicated support staff will reach out to explore other ways to confirm your order. Additionally, you always maintain the right to ask for the immediate removal of your verification records before the 30-day timer expires. We can initiate this request through Stripe instantly. However, please be aware that if we cannot confirm the validity of a purchase, we may be forced to void the transaction to prevent potential theft.

We Appreciate Your Understanding

We sincerely regret the extra effort this requires from some of our buyers. We look forward to a time when such measures aren’t required. For now, however, this process is our most effective tool for guarding our business, stopping credit card theft, and ensuring we can continue delivering premium tech to real enthusiasts like you.

Thank you for placing your trust in GPDSTORE.
