Amazing machine with some concessions

Fantastic machine if it's right for you. Very powerful (I have the HX370/64GB RAM/2TB SSD version) and lots of storage options -- primary 2280, secondary 2230, microSD and full-size SD slots. Thunderbolt and USB4 support mean a variety of display options; I use mine with a lapdock when I need a more traditional experience and that offers plenty of flexibility whether I'm just grabbing it for quick work or setting up a workstation while I travel. LTE modem is extremely convenient. For play, the built-in controller is convenient but certainly more awkward than a more dedicated handheld gaming device. This device is heavier and balanced differently so comfort is an issue. I placed some kickstands on the back which helps on a surface but in the lap, for me, playing time is limited and certain genres such as fighters or fast-paced FPS are still difficult.

The main reason I didn't give five stars is that there are plenty of peculiarities in getting things operating correctly and consistently. For instance, getting UCB-C video out on certain versions of BIOS is very finicky, requiring what is often an "incorrect" setting to function -- for instance, needing to set D2 to DP video without USB-C in order for DP to work WITH USB-C. The microSD slots are fiddly and that has been a known issue going back to the original -- in mine in particular if I eject the full-size SD card, the microSD slot drops, and nothing I do can get them to work again aside from restarting the entire machine. Little things like this do make it somewhat of a tinkerer's device rather than a set it and forget one.

All in all, this is a unique item which filled my particular use case and I'm quite satisfied with it. I don't mind the little idiosyncrasies and tweaks I have to do in exchange for something that fills all my needs and gives me an extreme amount of power in a compact form factor.

Great piece of tech, Better support from Droix!

Ordered the Win max 2 2025 370 + 32GB. Came within a little over a week. Had a little trouble with 1 pixel being dead. Droix sent a new screen ASAP. Can't go wrong with shopping here!

About the Win max 2 - The screen is sharp and pretty bright. The color accuracy isn't the greatest but you can change it with software. The sound isn't all that great either but have tried FxSound and it makes it better. Better being about par with the rog ally. The controller on the unit is ok. The joysticks are short but usable. There are 3d printed handles for the unit, they make a huge difference when using the controller.

The Keyboard is ok. I have about medium-ish sized hands and can type decently on it. Actually using the Win Max to write this review. Oh, the fan on it can be heard but it's like a big wind tunnel sound not a shrieking sound so a lot more tolerable than some other laptops that screech. Can also tone down the fan curve as well.

Not sure what else to say, I think the win max is worth the price. Especially with Droix having such great customer service! No meaningful complaints!

Good Machine

It's a good machine. I like the form factor better than the steamdeck style. the performance in games is surprising horizon zero dawn ran at native resolution with fsr and ultra settings at 29 fps and it looks amazing on the screen.

Absolutely great laptop...!
I didn't purchase for gaming, but rather for a very powerful LT in a compact form-factor...and there is no disappointment what-so-ever...
The screen size was my biggest concern, as I had a NetBook some years ago w/10" screen....the screen on this item is a quantum leap forward from the previous technology...very high rez for the size...no perceivable loss of visual access at all...
I also like the fact that you can add an additional ssd along side,of the system ssd...access to the 2ndary ssd is easy...access to the system ssd is a bit more difficult...
build quality is super durable, very nice indeed...
manual is very sparse, (mine that came with was for the 2024 model)...much room for improvement here in my opinion...
system does cost top dollar, however there is not much competition in the market place for an item like this, except for the GPD Pocket 4, which is essentially the same capabilities, same price, just not configured with gaming "switchology"...
would recommend to the GPD folks to configure with dedicated mouse buttons for track pad use...
all-in-all I am very pleased with my purchase....will likely purchase another or purhaps a pocket 4 for my wife to use...
HIGHLY recommended...!!!

GPD Build Quality, very nice! EGPU Works awesome!

Awesome, this new chipset is a much welcome addition to my EGPU set. Flashing a passport in a picture isn’t that interesting, but it does help provide validation if you’re wondering how preproduction devices are built and certified to space flight standard(Yep.). Good build quality, and this AMD chipset is going to pair nicely with a future NVIDIA 5090, and an occulink/USB 4, T-Bolt dock. Caveat with occulink is that, the performance bottleneck is limited what is in active PCIE development. Simulated performance limitations thanks to the chip, due to the limits of designing into adaptation. PCIE is the USB for the actual chipset, much relies upon varied implementations, and hardware diversity since that enables hardware optimization. Multiple faults, questionable reliability

I got the Win Max 2 32GB edition that i have purchased this summer and in beginning this mini computer worked like a dream everything was great and i thought that finally i found my ultra portable gaming dream however this dream over last few months turned more in to a nightmare. Just half a year later Win Max 2 started developing all sorts of faults like the famous black screen issue that many others are reporting and no matter what you try such as updating bios, resetting the computer this only solves the issue for a a while and then it comes back. Now the new bigger more serious problem has surfaced where the machine freezes and graphics card crashes when you plug or unplug the charger, when this happens the gpu driver disappears and i have to reinstall it after each crash. This basically means that this computer has to be plugged in all the time or switched off prior to connecting or disconnecting the charger. Now before anyone says anything i am a technically minded person and have tried more then just general reset and update, the issue is in the design itself as per further investigation Win Max 2 has absolutely zero tolerance to voltage fluctuations so any changes to power will either freeze or crash this computer. Even when you plug anything else to the second usb c charger port that will also freeze Win Max 2 computer. As there are so many posts all over the internet on almost every forum its just obvious GPD doesnt build with quality its all about the idea and just make it look good. Now ironically i had the option to buy a laptop this summer which i was saving for but i thought having a tiny gaming computer would be more better, to this day i now regret i didnt just go on and get a regular gaming laptop which would also cost less but most importantly work without all these problems which now i fear that i dont know what else to expect from this computer. It would be even difficult to sell it on ebay because so many people know what quality of GPD is like. Honestly Droiux how could you retail this without extensive research is beyond anyones guess. Final word be careful when buying any of these GPD computers!

Can anyone give advice on whether this computer will support more than just super basic functionality of the below applications? Ableton Live, Blender. Is it a combination of RAM and GPU that contribute to the smooth use of these applications, or is it something more?

Music Production, Ableton Live - I will produce music with several dozen channels, running sometimes multiple instances of heavy VSTs like Native Instruments. I would hook up my FocusRite Audio Interface for audio drivers.

Blender - 3D Modeling - Amateur 3D Design/Modeling. I don't get too heavy into shading/lighting, more just modeling for the purpose of bouncing STLs to 3D print. Can I expect to be able to dabble in animation/lighting stuff with this computer?

Ultrawide 34" curved monitor - I am currently using an MSI Optix MAG341CQ. Can I expect this computer to operate smoothly with such a large monitor?

I wasn't planning on splurging on the Oculink. However, can I still connect to a portable hard drive? I'm guessing the answer is yes, with less than Oculink's speed, but I just want to be sure.
