GPD Pocket 4 FAQ

No OcuLink support, but it will support USB 4 so you can connect an eGPU. This isn’t a gaming handheld, more for industry use which is probably why OCUlink is not included. Thunderbolt 5 is available in a few devices, but maybe a bit too early for adding to the Pocket 4, hopefully we see support in the next generation devices out next year. I do not follow telescopic controllers so I can’t answer this, if you can find one wide enough to fit then it should work. Personally I would rather use an external controller.

We do not have this information yet as the hardware is not finalised. We will hope to have this answer soon.

The Pocket 3 modules are apparently not compatible with the Pocket 4.

Based on the information we have, it supports up to 64GB RAM and will also have an option for both 64GB and 32GB configurations.

While nothing is confirmed yet we expect it to be able to be increased up to 54W TDP (possibly 60W TDP) as the GPD Duo does support this and the Pocket 4 will have the same CPU.

VRR is not supported, but it does have 144Hz refresh rate.

The GPD Pocket 4 is not a gaming handheld, it is designed more for industry use. You can use USB 4 with an eGPU if needed. There is no doubt that GPD will release a gaming handheld version next year and we would expect it to have OCuLink.

I do not understand your point. Anyone can use AI, it can be used for something like text or image, video and voice generation, or even controlling smart home devices for example. It can be used in industry, home, office etc.

I checked the BIOS and there is an option to allocated RAM to the GPU. We have the 32GB RAM model and it allows 0.5GB, 8GB and 16GB options. You would need 64GB RAM to do 24GB or higher by the looks of it.

Apologies for this. Some of the FAQs were based on predictions. With the GPD stylus it worked fine on Pocket 3, Duo etc so we assumed the Pocket 4 would also support an Active stylus. It will support Capacitive stylus.

We do not have these available for order separately. But if you purchased from GPD Store then these are covered under the warranty for two years should they go wrong.

We will see about doing a teardown video for the GPD Pocket 4, keep an eye on our blog for more news on this. I believe the bandwidth on the modular port is around USB speeds so it would not be possible to add support for OCuLink there.

It can run Sims 4 just fine. Inzoi is not officially released yet, but we will try and check it out once it is in a few days.

Are you shutting down Windows via the Start Menu then Shut Down? Try this and wait for it to fully shut down. Give it a few moments then hold the power button for a second or two and see if the LED lights up? Wait a few moments to see if it starts to boot, occasionally it can take a little longer to boot. Also does the device stay on if the charger is not connected once you are in Windows? The Pocket 4 uses USB4, so technically it can transfer data up to 40Gbps. As long as the video conferincing display actually supports this function, the GPD Pocket 4 would definitely support these transfer speeds. As we have used it with a Dell Docking Station (Which takes a Ethernet Port, 2x 4K Displays and a few USB ports)

With AMD processors it is caleld AMD Virtualization (SVM), check for this in the BIOS. If you are still having an issue enabling it please get in contact with our customer service at [email protected] and we can look into it further.

We personally do not offer the upgrade to Pro version. There are some differences including Bitlocker encryption, Remote Desktop and VM related features which the average home user wouldnt need.

Unfortunately GPD only make drivers for Windows and there are no Linux based drivers. I believe there may be generic drivers that you can use, you can join our discord at https://go.droix.co.uk/discord and we have some Linux users that may be able to assit or point you in the right direction.

The Active stylus for Pocket 3 and Win Max 2 series is not compatible. You need a capacative stylus https://gpdstore.net/accessories/universal-stylus-pen-for-gpd/

We would not recommend doing so, as there are many processes in the background that would constantly use the CPU, and the CPU without constant cooling would not function properly. The fan already adjusts its speed based on the intensity at which the CPU is running, however, turning it completely off is unadvised.

If you go into the BIOS settings you can change the battery charge limit there

Yes, it supports battery bypass power.

Currently, there are no official 5G modules available for this device; however, it is fully compatible with 4G LTE. You can easily add this capability by ordering the 4G module as a separate accessory here

For the GPD Pocket 3 Core i7 version, there are currently no newer BIOS version released by GPD. The N6000 model uses different firmware, so any BIOS update for that version should not be used on the Core i7 model.

We also would not recommend using BIOS files from Reddit or other unofficial sources, as flashing the wrong or unverified BIOS can cause serious issues or even make the device unusable.

If your device is working normally on BIOS 1.21, the safest recommendation is to stay on that version unless an official Core i7-specific BIOS update is provided directly by GPD
