    Review for GPD Pocket 4 KVM Module

    The main reason why I got this is because I wanted to try something silly and set up the Pocket 4 as sort of a external streaming PC that wouldn't be affected by power outages or something like that. I don't actually stream nor do I get power outages often enough for it to matter but I was really intruiged by that idea.

    I haven't done a proper setup but it seems to work solid for that job.

    It just works

    It was straightforward how to install, and it just works perfectly without tweaking. On Windows, there is a preinstalled app for it, on Linux I was able to use it with VLC, as a capture device.

    It works.

    Frist time I have ever used a KVM before. Almost plug and play, I didn't know to use the camera app to get a picture. Looking forward to using this more.

    Screws

    Why the screws are needed to replace the additional ports HDMI,...? Framework has replaceble ports as well and no screws are needed. Otherwise I am satisfied...

    Is the pocket 3 and pocket 4 modules interchangeable

    Hey, The modules for the GPD Pocket 3 and GPD Pocket 4 are not interchangeable. The GPD Pocket 4 features a modular port system with swappable modules such as a Micro SD card reader, RS-232, 4G LTE, and a single-port KVM module, but these modules are not backward-compatible with the Pocket 3's modules. This means you cannot use Pocket 3 modules on the Pocket 4 or vice versa.

    Specifically, the Pocket 4's modular design was updated for enhanced versatility and industrial use, and the physical or electrical interface differs from that of the Pocket 3, preventing cross-compatibility. Users can easily swap modules on the Pocket 4 by removing two screws, but the modules themselves are unique to each model.
