GPDマイクロPC UMPC

After receiving my GPD Micro PC, and getting it up and running - I could not be more impressed. I am not a Windows user, typically. But in this day and age you have to have something running Windows. GPD MPC is the best solution ever. And this is the best version of Windows 10 Pro I have ever used. I was a little concerned about the 256 GB storage. Until I popped my 1TB MicroSDX card into the onboard slot. Problem solved.

I'm a developer/researcher and wanted the most regular PC available in the smallest form factor. In conjunction with a feature phone that serves as a wifi hotspot, the device enables full productivity simply anywhere. Standby time is several days. The battery, storage, and screen are user-replaceable (with a screwdriver/suction cup). The RS232 is extremely useful when debugging on laboratory devices. Everything works just as described. The keyboard and mouse work excellently even though the small size does have a learning curve. Single-handed operation is possible for some in-field operations.

Processor speed and GPU performance are exceptional for the low energy consumption.

Gaming/leisure/social media users will probably not be happy with the device: No camera, no touch-screen. But that's not the intended use case anyway. I dislike touchscreens anyway and have used it for videoconferencing with a USB webcam without problem.

I hope GPD will continue making these devices. A must for lovers of QWERTY devices, PSION fans, and those who miss the ATARI Portfolio, RacePen, or eeePC.

After 2 weeks of use I am very happy with the device. I am using a regular computer for work all day long and I am using this device when I am on the go instead of a tablet.... love it! So far so good!

Note: I've used the GPD Micro for two weeks before writing this.
For starters, this is a product for only a few use cases. If you're not interested in those, you probably won't like this. Before my comments on how it serves those, a few notes on what this is. This is for use cases where you want a pockettable computer which runs desktop operating systems. It's not a laptop for normal use; it's too small. It's not a tablet; the screen doesn't have touch and the keyboard is the major factor here. It's not for headless, as you'd be paying for an interface when you can get a cheaper headless mini PC.
The specs of this are pretty good. While attaching that label to a Celeron may seem strange, it really isn't. You're not going to edit video with this processor, but you wouldn't on this screen either. For lightweight tasks, there has not been any lag. This includes browsing, accessing other systems with SSH, compiling code, writing code (advice, use a text editor instead of an IDE if you want to have more code on the screen). The major benefits of this are the faster M.2 storage which is superior to EMMC and 8 GB of memory, which means you won't have to page very often. Unless you're planning to frequently tax your CPU, these will help keep normal tasks smooth.
The Windows installation is running without much work. It has been capped for the moment at the 1909 release, which I haven't yet changed for fear that there's a good reason. Still, that release still has security patches coming. Linux hasn't been as good, but most things have worked so far with some help from online posts and the manufacturer website.

I've had my GPD Micro for about a month now, and it's turned into my daily driver.

First thing I did when I received it (less than a week after ordering) was to smoke Windows and put Debian 12 on it. I love that I can carry it in my pocket, and it works seamlessly with my AR glasses and bluetooth input hardware to provide a smooth, portable computing experience.

I bought the GPD Micro PC for travelling, cause i wanted a small laptop for saving my GoPro Videos ... the Micro SD slot and three USB3 slots are very helpful.

So far so good

Of course I bought knowing it had some limitations, I was aware of that. Don't expect this to be a gaming computer, it is not, although it can run some simple games.

But that is not it's purpose

I think the only reason I don't give 5 stars, is because I was expecting the battery life to last longer

Just got my Micro PC !!! very excited :) overall the shipment was super fast (4 days) and the teams' support and patience to answer every question i had with precision !! much appreciated !!

I was nervous at first, not knowing the site, bit it all turned out great! The Micro computer does exactly what I wanted it to do and is identical to a windows laptop. I’m aware to watch for battery puffing up, so just sharing that. But nice and easy to use. So I’m very happy.
