One of the great features of the GPD Duo is that the second (top) display can also be used like a portable monitor, you can connect many devices with USB-C video output. It may be possible to use a HDMI to USB-C video convertor, we have not tried this.
How to use the GPD Duo Video Input #
On the left side of the top display is a USB-C port which you can connect compatible devices to (see the compatibility list below).
USB-C to USB-C Cable #
We recommend the DroiX USB 4 Type-C cable for best compatibility. Connect one side of the USB-C cable to GPD Duo’s USB-C port and the other to the USB-C port on your device.
After a few moments, the display should switch from the GPD Duo’s Window desktop to whatever is showing on your connected device.
You can use the brightness Up/Down buttons just below the USB-C connector on the GPD Duo to adjust the top displays brightness. Other controls such as the resolution etc. can be controlled from the connected device.
GPD Duo Video Input Tips #
- You can use the video input while the GPD Duo is switched on and in Windows for example. The top display will switch from Windows desktop to the device you have connected automatically.
- If you want to save some battery power and not have the GPD Duo switched on, you can also connect a device while the Duo is powered off. The top display will switch on and display from the connected device.
- No audio from the connected device will play on the GPD Duo speakers. The speakers are only for the Duo’s audio and not video input.
